Revolutionizing Speech Therapy through Speech-to-Text Recognition and Quantitative Analysis
For our submission, we aimed to make use of rev.ai's versatile speech-to-text API in developing a Python-based speech therapy software. Users with speech impediments, such as stutters, can practice pronouncing a randomly generated list of words, which are then recognized by the API; our program then calculates a percentage of accuracy based on the fluency of pronunciation and outputs it to the user. The user can practice with our software based on these results to better his/her/their pronunciation and vocal intonation over time as part of a speech therapy regimen. Also included on our site is a selection of speech therapy exercise videos for continued practice in addition to our interactive software.
